Take This Job and Love It: Courtney and Mike Willits

GAYLORD — Cutting Edge Computers of Gaylord recently moved to a new location due to its thriving business in the area.

Owners Courtney and Mike Willits moved Cutting Edge Computers to 1389 S. Otsego Ave. last month.

“We have decided to move because business has been increasing and we have hired two more employees and we just needed more space for our employees and our customers,” Courtney said in an email. “We want to be able to provide more services and that meant more room. With this move we purchased a bigger building so we can grow into it.”

The new space also offers customers a modern retail space.

Cutting Edge Computers opened in February 2014, Courtney said.

“I had been in the IT field for quite a while. I saw the need for some additional service in the area. Taking care of customers is our number one goal,” Mike said.

“Mike had been doing repairs on the side for several years and saw there was a need for another computer repair facility in Gaylord, so we talked about opening a storefront. He had seen an ad for Vanderbilt school and ended up bidding out for their IT and we won,” Courtney recalled.

“Then, we realized we really needed a storefront, so within a week we found an office and opened. I love people and figured I could do the front end and Mike could do the back end — and we could spend more time together.”

Cutting Edge Computers offers in-house IT solutions from PC sales, repair and network deployment to cloud backup computing solutions.

Courtney said there is a need for their services “because technology is used every day and is ever changing whether we like it or not.”

“It also breaks unfortunately. Most people cannot fix their own computers so we are here to help them,” she said. “Many people get nervous when on their computer so we are here to teach them how to be comfortable when on their computers.”

Courtney said Cutting Edge aims to ensure people are safe when they are on the internet and the business is also there to listen to people “vent about how much they hate computers.”

Cutting Edge Computers has an open house and ribbon-cutting event scheduled for next month.

The open house is set to take place from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5. The ribbon cutting is planned for 4 p.m. on the same day.
