Pound Ridge has a distinct civic and visual character. This project translates that character into an official seal designed for the full range of municipal applications.
A seal designed for everyday government.
An official seal carries civic authority across documents, vehicles, plaques, apparel, embossing, signage, and digital media.
Pound Ridge offers a rich visual vocabulary through its rural landscape, stone walls, historic buildings, conservation tradition, arts community, and active civic life. The design process will identify the elements with the strongest connection to place and develop them into a durable municipal mark.
From municipal design work to communications leadership.
Before joining the City of Cleveland Heights staff, I worked with the City as a design vendor, including on the Department of Public Safety seal.
The seal began with a concept and visual direction developed by then-Mayor Kahlil Seren. I helped bring that direction into production by executing the artwork, developing color options for review, and preparing the mark for practical municipal use.
I later joined the City staff and became Director of Communications, where I led brand and communications standards across departments. That experience connected the design work itself with the day-to-day realities of maintaining a visual system inside government.
Cleveland Heights Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety seal brought several public safety functions into a single civic identity with full-color and one-color applications for departmental use.

Review
Current seal, Town materials, historical references, production needs, and priorities identified by staff and the Town Board.
Develop
Two distinct seal directions with rationale and application testing in full color, black and white, reduced scale, and one-color use.
Listen
A concise concept board and survey language give residents a structured way to respond to the proposed directions.
Refine
Consolidated feedback informs development of the selected direction through two revision rounds.
Equip
Organized production files and a compact usage guide support consistent use by Town staff and outside vendors.

Designing for people to participate.
The ADU Design Showcase turned a planning and housing conversation into a public-facing exhibition inside City Hall. Residents could encounter the information in a physical space, compare ideas, and engage with the subject on their own terms.
The same approach informs the Pound Ridge process. Clear presentation, useful context, and focused questions give residents a meaningful way to respond to proposed directions.

Public input works best when people can see the choices, understand the reasoning behind them, and respond to specific questions.
Each proposed direction will be presented with a short rationale and practical applications. Survey language will focus feedback around recognition, sense of place, civic appropriateness, and overall preference. Consolidated responses will inform refinement of the selected direction.
